I would like to use smoothies as a meal replacement, but what should I use? I tried a couple of years ago, thinking I could just use milk and peaches, but it came out horribly and I had to add other random ingredients to make it taste any good. I would like something fairly simple that can use canned or frozen fruit, as the produce in my area is scarce and VERY expensive.
bananas, strawberries, soy milk, peanut butter, soy yogurt, orange juice
all these things are great together, but you can mix and match and add other things
just make the orange juice and fresh and natural as possible
I love smoothies with
1.soymilk
2.strawberries
3.bananas
4.vanilla yogurt
5.a couple splendas
I always start with a banana (frozen makes it thicker) as a base. This gives the smoothie some creaminess and sweetens it without needing sugar or artificial sweetener. Then I add whatever frozen fruit I have, because everything goes well with banana. If it’s still too thick, add some milk or orange juice. If you’re using it as a meal replacement, add either some yogurt or a scoop of protein powder to make it a more balanced meal.
Frozen fruit of your choice.
1-2 scoops of protein powder of your choice
Liquid of your choice (milk, water, juice, coffee…)
Ice (optional)
Add some liquid into a blender (about 1/3 of a cup), then the protein powder, then dump in some frozen fruit (try 1 cup). Turn on the blender. Add more liquid as needed. Once it’s all blendy and nice, add some ice cubes if you want.
Euphoric said to add a banana. This is an excellent choice. If you throw in a banana, try using a chocolate protein powder, frozen strawberries, and a tablespoon of creamy peanut butter. This is delicious! Or, remove the strawberries and add coffee (if you like coffee) for a delicious Chunky Monkey Coffee Smoothie.
Tada.
CHICKEN, MEAT AND PORK WITH SOME BBQ SAUCE AND BLEND IT UP WITH FROZEN BROTH.
strawberries, bananas, and yogurt oh and vanilla soy milk
Okay what I do is get some bananas and peel them and tear them into 3-4 chunks and freeze them in ziploc baggies. Then I throw them in the blender with enough soy milk to almost cover them. Then you need something to sweeten it, you can use sugar or syrup or chocolate syrup or anything else that you can think of. There you have a smoothie, but I will add more things to it. Throw in any of the following: peaches, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mangoes, ice cream, hot chocolate mix, peanut butter, or whatever you can think of. If I’m working out I’ll put some protein powder in there too. Enjoy!
the best fruit to use is fresh but frozen will do.
strawberries and bananas/blueberries
raspberries and banana.. and strawberries would be good
i’m guessing you aren’t vegan since you said milk but i am. and i just made a banana & apple (but it was mostly banana) and soy milk and silken tofu. my mom isnt a vegan but she said it tasted delicious.
soy milk and tofu have a loott of protein.
I would not recommend replacing a meal with this, unless you put in lots fo healthy veggies, and drown out there taste with lots and lots of random fruits. But this is the best tasting smoothie I have ever had!
Strawberries + ice = Yummy!
