walk a dog, or around the neighborhood with friends..
tell her to stop soda completely(i did and lost 10lbs!)
eat more often but small meals,
and when she drinks water, tell her to add lemon b/c it helps break down food b/c of the acids so your body doesn’t have towork so hard to do it.

    How about exersize (sp.)

because diets don’t work and NONE of them are fun

    also stop feeding them McDonalds.

  • login baker:

  • dead can dance:

kids should not be on a diet. how about always feed your child a healthy well balanced meals? If you bring them up eating healthy those habits will stay with them for life. educate yourself and your daughter the importance of healthy eating habits…you would be doing you both a world of good.

  • M. Apprivoiser:

just cut out soda, candy, fastfood.
go for walks, get her out to play!

  • Gavint T:

my mother went to trader Joe’s and there was always fun and tasty stuff there..

  • Steve:

That’s great she’s health conscious at a young age. Just exercise and more fruits and veggies. No cokes more water.

  • rissakae:

Consult your pediatrician and if the pediatrician feels that your daughter is at and unhealthy weight then they will refer you to a nutritionist. Unless there are health problems, please do not encourage your daughter’s obsession with weight because that will lead to a lifetime of anxiety about weight.

  • Mr. ???:

well, give them veggies and few meats
no mickey d’s or fast food
    no sodas and chips
    no junk food
more fruits and fresh juices(dont be lazy people)
    no sport drinks
do 2 hour walks in the park and ride bikes
    this is just a start

Just stick to recommended food groups as much as possible. Try to encourage eating fruits, vegetables, etc.

Also, cut out soft drinks and sweets. Go for some fat free yogurt, pudding, and jello for snacks. When considering drinks, remember that fruit drinks contain lots of sugar too–so try to find some low sugar drinks like sugar free coolaid. Of course–some juice is necessary for vitamins, but remember that it contains sugar so if trying to lose weight, it should be consumed in moderation just like sugary soft drinks.

Simple really. Just keep to whole foods like lean meats, veggies and fruits. Dont forget some grains, we do need them. As for sweets, keep them under control for special days. Once a week is enough and try to watch for over indulging. Besides that, excersise. May it be cardio or weights, if she’s over 13, as long as she’s moving and putting on a sweat.

For a child, I’d take the whole emphasis off dieting. Kids just don’t need that added pressure. I think you’re smart though to make some changes. I call this the “non diet.” See if there’s anything that you can use at home. If you and your daughter sit down together to make some “rules”, maybe she’d be on board. But my biggest suggestion is to approach it as a family quest to get healthier. Don’t mention the whole weight issue.
    1) Weigh yourself once a week, at approx. the same time, wearing approx. the same thing.
    2) Try to make the healthiest choices possible when choosing food. For example, choose brown rice over white rice. Choose whole-grained bread over white bread, etc.
    3) Eat half of your normal portion at each meal.
    4) Never skip breakfast as it wakes up your metabolism and gets it working for the day.
    5) Only allow yourself one sweet on Saturday and one on Sunday (unless it’s a special occasion like a birthday).
    6) Drink mostly water and plenty of it. Save sweet drinks for special occasions. Limit soda-even diet. Skim milk is excellent!
    7) Try to hit all the major food groups when choosing your food: lean protein, veggies, fruits, whole-grains, low-fat dairy. 8) Be more active. Ride your bike, take a walk, put on some good tunes and dance, jump rope, etc. Try to do something that leaves you huffing and puffing for 30 minutes each day.
    Good luck!

Yes! A safe and fun diet for kids is very easy because they are so young and it’s easy to do it.
1.Make sure your kid gets 30 Min’s of exercise each day
2.Keep her away from ALL JUNK FOOD! i know it may seem hard at first but its a better result
3.Have snacks before and after meals
    4.Lower her proportion sizes
5.Throw in some fruit and cook healthier
That’s it! in about three months she will be better i promise
NOW! on the weekends she may treat herself but dint let her over do it
    hope it helps

No, children should no be worried about losing weight, she is much too young to have self esteem issues.

If she needs to be healther make sure you are offering her healthy foods and snacks, lots of fruits, veggies, dairy, lean protein, and whole grains.

make sure she has regular physical activities, sports team, dance, karate…….something fun and active.

she has her whole adult life to worry, it is your job to make sure she doesn’t have to start too early.

take her to the doctor and see if she has any health related issuse to extra weight and takle those problems.

most of all, build her self esteem back up. She will need it later.

I saw this amazing segment on this show, I’m sorry I don’t remember what show.

but in addition to cutting back on all junk food. You can get a mini food processor and put rich colored vegetable (very dark greens bright orange carrots and deep red tomatoes which promote weight loss) and grind them almost into a paste and add to there food. It’s fun for the kids because you can mess around with the different flavors and combinations.

But also I don’t think kids should be worried about weight, they will eventually lose there baby fat, and me kind of still being a kid (17) I believe our idea of healthy weight is distorted by even kid channels such as disney and Nickelodeon

I hope this helped. email for additional information.

Yes. I use a product called Papayamine. It is made from papaya and has 16% protein, lots of fiber, many Vitamins and Minerals and CoQ 10. She can mix it in her favorite fruit juices and she will love it. Healthy and naturally sweet. The protein will help t make her fill full too. It also comes in capsules so that would be easy. You won’t need to worry about her feeling bloated because there is no whey or soy. It is also a great way to get extra fruit into her diet! You can get it at

There is no diet that is good. Its all about life style and now is the time for her to learn that.Teach her about what type of foods she should be eating and why.For the fun part exercise, lots of things that kids love are great exercise think swimming, skating, biking, dancing, any sport you get the idea.I think you need to look at this situation a little deeper. Why does she want to lose weight and does she even need to? Don’t let her attempt any diet if shes not overweight and ask yourself why she feels this way.Is she feeling pressure from other girls? It concerns me a little because eating disorders can start early.Just be careful not to let her think she will be a better person or more likable if she loses weight. She will be healthier and happier and its important that she understands that’s why we have to stay in shape.

You could make fruit salads from many different color fruits. Like a combination of melon, mango, apple, orange, kiwi, berries, pineapple, cantaloupe, nuts and seeds combined. That could be eaten as a meal.

Most children like drinking:- Keep vegetable or fruit juice in the refrigerator at all times.

Make toss salads from vegetables of a wide variety of colors:- red or yellow pepper (sweet pepper), shredded carrot, shredded, pumpkin, shredded cabbage, lettuce, tomato, parsley, celery, cucumber and so on. Add to it your favorite dressing. This could be eaten as a meal after adding nuts, seeds such as sunflower seeds and diced cheese. or could be eaten as the largest part of a regular meal.

Vegetables are very low in calories and high in fiber. The fiber forms a large part of the bulk for bowel movement which is also essential for weight management.

Vary the meals. It is good including complex carbohydrate such as yam, potatoes, cassava, green bananas in your diet. And also meat as a source of protein and fat is also important especially in the diet of children.

The pulp (trash) from the vegetables you use to make drink could be baked into a pudding.

And please remember, lots of water per day is also very important.
