Question: A good “diet” plan for a high school-er?
I’m a female, almost 16, and weigh around 137 – 140 lbs.
[You don't have to read this whole thing, it's actually pretty pointless lol]

I just basically want something to follow. I have tried losing the weight on my own but it’s really difficult because i don’t really have guidelines to follow and things like that, so i tend to just drop it and not be disciplined.

My day is a little like this:
Wake up at 7 am. Get dropped off at school.
School from 8am to 3pm
Get picked up right after school.
Come home and do homework from 4 to whenever i finish, and it’s usually dark by then.
Go sleep at 11pm (hoping to change this and go to sleep earlier if school work doesn’t last that long)

So, I just need some tips. From my house to school is about 3 miles. I had walked home for a while but usually in slippers (or flip-flops. sorry I’m from Hawaii, we call ‘em slippers) because I didn’t have shoes to properly wear, but i stopped since it wasn’t good for my feet and legs. But I’m going to be buying Dr. Scholl’s Jamie shoes which I hope will be comfortable to wear for that walk. If it’s not, then I’ll just wear my athletic shoes.

Any easy tips on exercises to do? Some easy, healthy meals? “Diets”? Anything is greatly appreciated I just really want to change so my self-esteem increases and I feel better about myself. (and my mother stops making remarks on my weight)
So your usual whine-about-weight teen here looking for some strict guidelines to stick to. Thank you

Answer:

Answer by Imperfect Missme
Look up the the day diet. It is supposed to be a short term fix but it is super healthy and can be followed as a life diet with regular light exercise. You can substitute things if you don’t like them, just make sure they have the same health value before you change them. Here is a website that may help you out… http://www.everydiet.org/diet/3-day-diet

Good luck

Question: Is this a good “diet” to lose a small healthy amount of weight?
Is it to much food, too little food, or perfect amount?
I’m not trying to go weight crazy, just about 10 lbs.
I am vegan, but I don’t think that effects the question alot.
Or the section I put it in.
ANYWAYS,

breakfast: vegan yogurt or one package of oatmeal
lunch: medium sized mixed salad (with grapes, celery, and carrots in it) and a medium apple
snack: celery with peanut butter (2 stalks)
dinner: teriyaki tofu (3 “slices”), rice(1.5cups I guess), peas(2.5tbs approx), broccoli(5-6pieces)

Obviously that wouldn’t be what I’d eat everday. Dinner would probably vary more.

This isn’t that different from what I usually eat. Like, add on a grilled cheese sandwhich to lunch, crackers to snack, and no breakfast.
I’m 5’4″ and about 130.
Just, if that’s needed for anybody.

Answer:

Answer by moe_moe_lu
That you are eating though out the day is perfect! That is keeping your metabolism up which helps burn calories. Just try not to eat anything after 4 PM if you can help it. Also drink lots of water. Also drink fruit juices in moderation or make sure that it is 100% juice. People just don’t understand how much sugar is in juice! Hope it works out for you!

Healthy Diet Foods For Diabetes Can Be Good

Though healthy diet foods serve the best for all in general, it is emphatically true that healthy diets are considered secondary to none in controlling diabetes. Healthy diet foods contain all nutrients required for maintaining health, of course, free from diabetes. Such foods are considered to comprise Vitamins and Minerals that are needed not only to build up a healthy body but even to stabilize normal health. So, the statement ‘healthy diet foods can be good for diabetes’ stands valid for controlling blood sugar levels.

When a diabetic is able to control blood glucose with dietary foods to certain extent, then what is there left for him to worry about? By taking some medication, the pathological condition of diabetes can be kept under control reasonably as a tentative measure. The managing of diabetes or prevention of further aggravation of diabetic condition can be achieved by changing lifestyle with healthiest diet foods.

In the list of healthy diet foods for diabetes, we have to add grains, fruits, and spices to make it complete in all requirements to the body with diabetes. Also, they should be consumed at a balanced measure with divided servings instead of having them in heavy volume. Heavy eating will result in obesity which is the first and foremost enemy for a diabetic. In this respect, it would be nice if the diabetic consults a doctor and gets a diet meal plan including diabetic healthy foods.

Grains: Unpolished rice, wheat, maize and oats are good for diabetes. In case you consume these diet foods in whole grains and if they are boiled instead of being fried, you can enjoy the maximum benefits of healthy diets.

Fruits: Apples, red grapes, guava, and pomegranates are the best diet foods for diabetes to reduce blood sugar in the bloodstream. If the fruits are eaten with nuts and unpeeled, they serve well the benefits of healthy diets. However, those fruits high in sugar can wisely be excluded.

Spices: Cinnamon and Garlic are really wonderful varieties of spices which can work effectively for diabetics in boosting insulin secretion to control blood sugar levels.

Vegetables: Vegetables containing rich fiber content and low carbohydrate are preferred as healthy diet foods that are serving good for diabetics. The result will be excellent if the vegetables are fresh and eaten in boiled form. Spinach and black beans are good healthy foods for controlling diabetes.

Question: What’s a good, healthy diet for a teenager?
I’m 16, 5’6, and a few pounds overweight. I’ve tried so many diets, but they leave me feeling hungry. I’ll do perfectly one day, and then end up loading up on food the next. Typical diet and binge cycle, I know. So what’s a basic healthy “diet” for a teenager?

Answer:

Answer by Gjajasi Krjewrohy
Diet is useless without exercise. If you continue to be lazy, you’ll continue to be overweight. But a good, healthy diet should include a good amount of protein, with healthy carbohydrates, no soda, no junk food (stick to all natural stuff), and lots and lots of water. Here is an example of a nutritious day:

BREAKFAST (Very important. Never, under any circumstance skip it): Ham and Egg English Muffin(whole grain) and orange juice
SNACK 1: Apple
LUNCH: Turkey Burger, baby spinach, avocado on whole grain bread and Carrots with hummus
POST WORK OUT SNACK: Protein Shake
DINNER: Sushi and Salad

Make sure to drink water through out the day. Good luck!

Can Healthy Diet Foods Be Good For Diabetes?

It is a common fact that healthy diet foods are preferred than nutritious foods. If the health aspect of the diet foods is absent or deficient, then the benefit of eating those foods is zero. Since healthy foods help controlling diabetes, they are given top priority by diabetics. Foods which contain Minerals and Vitamins are recommended for diabetics in keeping normal levels of blood sugar. So, it is rightly claimed that healthy diet foods are good for diabetes as they control blood sugar levels. When there is opportunity for controlling diabetes, there is nothing to be worried about your diabetic condition.

It should be remembered that medication alone cannot solve the pathological condition when prone to diabetes. You can control blood glucose levels reasonably with some medication to certain degree but not as a whole without healthy diet. However, the sufferings can be managed by consuming right diet foods following a dietary meal plan. Be sure, you will be helped to manage diabetes or even prevent by maintaining your health with healthy diet foods.

You can get a list of diet foods to eat after diagnosis of your present condition by a dietitian and improve your health by preventing diabetes from developing further. You will be recommended to consume plenty of vegetables and fruits as healthy diets to supplement the requirements of your body. What is suggested to be added as diabetic healthy food, it should be consumed in small measures. If you have divided and small servings, your digestive system can function without problem, and the function of the pancreas will also be great. You may plan your healthy diet foods as follows:

Fresh Vegetables: There are vegetables of two varieties, one high in fiber and the other low in fiber. If the diet foods contain enriched fiber content, such foods can help the diabetic in blood sugar control. The condition will be pathetic if the food is plenty in carbohydrates. You can choose black beans and spinach for better effects.

Low sweet Fruits: Consuming fruits as healthy diet is equally important when you choose to consume vegetables. You can be sure to reduce your blood sugar by eating apples, pomegranates, and red grapes before or after your regular meal.

Grains and spices: Wheat, unpolished rice, and oatmeal are also healthy diets usually recommended for diabetics to control and manage diabetes as you aspire. Spices like garlic and cinnamon have amazing quality of helping pancreatic secretion of insulin needed to convert dietary glucose into energy.
