Every evening I go walking 2-3 miles at a local rec center and when I come home I’m starving. I eat well-proportioned meals during the day and always make sure to eat an hour or two before I go walking. Are there any healthy meal replacements I could have after I go walking to help fight the cravings? Or maybe some healthy snack ideas?

Personally, I cannot sleep at night unless I eat. I usually go for a run after dinner and am starving after words. I save some of my calories to account for this. New studies also show that your metabolism does not drop as much if you eat a little right before bed.

I find that a half a cup of oats with a couple of raisins and skim milk does the trick. It runs about 300 cAL, but defenitely helps me sleep. FRuit just makes me hungrier. This really works. I eat the oats uncooked. It taste better than you think and a TSP of sugar(at 15 CAL) really helps

    Good luck

    nuts (cashews, pistachios, peanuts–dry roasted)
    cheese cubes/sticks
cut up veggies (carrots, cucumber, broccoli)
    sugar free pudding cup
    sugar free Popsicles

try making homemade trail mix: raisins, nuts, grains, dried fruit; making it youself controls the fat/sugar intake…

    Dear Kristin,
Very good you walk so much! Very Healthy!
In the magizine “Bon Appétit” (A very good cooking magazine, many healthy easy recipes that look very profesional and taste great!) I found something that you might like!
After walking far I can imagine you’re starving, so I looked for a good easy recipe that you just put in the oven, or you can even make it sometime, for if you get home:

Bruschetta wit tomato, avocado basil and mint

    You will need:
1 sourdough baguette, cut into thick rounds
    1 cup chopped onion
    1/4 cup chopped basil
1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves (save some whole ones for garnish)
2 table spoons fresh lemon juice
1 pound assorted tomatoes, coarsely chopped
2 large avocados, cut into small pieces
    1 clove of garlic
(Optional) 1 tablespoon jalpeno chiles with seeds

Preheat oven to 425 F. Arrange bread on large rimmed backing sheet. Brush with oil: Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Back until crisp, about 12 minutes, cool.

Do Ahead: Press garlic into medium bowl. Add onion, basil, chopped mint, lemon juice, and chiles. Mix in tomatoes, then avodcados, season with salt and pepper. Spoon onto toasts: Garnish with mint leaves.

This is great to do. Tip: Just put the sourdough (or whatever type of bread you use) in toaster, then put the other things on. It’s easier, but not warm.

Something else: You can buy food magazines very cheap, like Bon Appétit! I bought it for only 3.99!
There’s healthy things and you can choose something that you like, deciding by looking at the pictures!

    Good luck!

    Love, Renee
