Question by Tulip: I’ve hit a weight loss “plateau”, and I’ve exactly a month to lose 10lbs. What to do?
I’ve lost 10lbs easily in 2 month with a good diet and little to no exercise. This time I added exercised to my diet and I can’t seem to lose anymore weight. Yes I understand that I may be building muscle mass, but there has to be some other way where I can get out of this plateau and lose a little more weight within a month. I lost 10lbs in April, stopped my diet for a month, and started it back in June. I’ve gained 2lbs, which I’m not worried about, yet it’s been over a month since I started exercising while back on my healthy diet as I was in April and the weight just wont budge.
Any suggestions besides hanging in there?
When I said I lost 10lbs easily in 2 months I meant 1 month.
I set myself for a goal of 1 month to lose weight because like a lot of people they say they are going on a diet and yet they are only on it for 2 days or so I set a short term goal for me to stick on, which I did. Then I stopped because I didn’t want tp overwhelm myself and give up if I set a longer goal.
I am about 5’6, 135lbs…and yes I have a normal BMI, and yes I’m at a healthy weight, but no I am not satisfied with it just yet. And my weight loss is for me and not to look good for anyone else.
Ok there are a few of you who understand what I’m talking about and many of you who think I dont know how to diet. Some of you think Im obsessed.
I am no obsessed. You do not call personal trainers that or people who are in the gym that working who look GREAT. So please do not call me that.
I increased my jog of 2 miles to 5 miles (3 during lunch our at work and 2 after work) for 3-4 times a week. I also weight lift, but not much since I use whatever weights I have at home

What is your general height and current weight? Why are you trying to lose weight? Again, the fact that you stopped your diet (which I presume to be healthy as it should be!) does not help. To lose weight and keep it off means that you have to be committed for the long term. If you are having difficulty, find a friend to diet and exercise with you. If that is not possible, join a weight loss program. I’ve seen them work on other people.
smaller portions,. less fruit more veggies, lots of water, taking a walk after supper, no eating after 7pm.
cardio workout- walking, running, tennis, volleyball, basketball, something that will have you moving about
Too many people are obsessed with weight loss. You need to concern yourself with healthy dieting and excersize. If the weight comes off, great, if not, then you have reached metabolic stasis and you are very healthy. Go any further and you start peeling away at your perfect health.
Chill!
You probably look great, feel great, but are too obsessed to enjoy it. Live it up! you’re healthy!
Instead of having a double decker moon pie or something thats like 300 calories, try cut up apples with splenda on them. There very tasty and not very much calories. When you get hungry try snacking on these to go on a diet.
I went through the same thing. You have to exercise more then you have been. Maybe, go for a jog?
Sounds like you’ve hit what’s called a plateau. It happens to anybody losing any amount of weight. Don’t give up what you’re doing….you’ll find that in a week or so, your weight will plummet several pounds at once. Keep with eating right & exercise.
And here is one more idea. I would suggest a cleansing diet. I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going. Check out following link for more details about different cleansing methods:

Good luck!
Your body may be trying to resist this regimine. Your body weight can fluctuate 2 to 5 lbs daily. The additional 2 lbs maybe due to added muscle, or water weight. You may try changing your routine, if you have been doing the same thing for a month and have hit a plateau.
I found that the more overweight I was the faster it came off. As I started to slim down, the slower the weightloss. I swtiched diet plans since hitting a plateau with the old diet and took off some additional weight. I’ve also found that the South Beach plan, being a lifestyle change as opposed to a diet works extremely well. You can cheat on occassion and still do the original steps for just a few days to get back to where you were.
In such a short time the best way to lose weight is to have lots and lots of sex with g.f or wife. But it doesn’t that you should go for a prostitute if don’t have a g.f or a wife there are other options also swimming. It’s the no 1 calorie burner, cycling, workout on treadmill. There are so many options, best of luck!
Our body goes into conservation mode when we eat a low calorie diet every day. This is an age old response to guard against starvation.
There are two things you can do to ‘trick’ your body into losing weight again.
First, vary your calorie intake day to day. Have a high day one day, and a low day the next. Even a change of 300 calories can make a difference, but it can be more, depending upon how much you now weigh and what your requirements are.
Second, boost your exercise. This will help burn the fat. To burn fat you need cardio, brisk walking, swimming, jogging, bicycling, etc. If you are doing 30 min, step it up to 45, then eventually an hour. It will get your body losing again.
And finally, has anyone noticed the spammer with the colon cleanse stuff? This person has been posting under three different names (Brian, Lisa and Sarah) over the past few months, and they post the same website to everyone with the same message trying to sell a product.

Best of luck!
If you can’t lose more weight and are already on a diet, exercise is the way to go. Try cardio exercise like running and swimming. Swimming is the best.
