Question by Ruth G: Is it safe to excercise and “diet” during pregnancy?
Ok so I just found out a couple of days ago that I am pregnant. I already have two kids and after my second one I gained TONS of weight!! So i got serious, excercised, ate super healthy and drank a protein shake to supplement my dinner. Within 9 months I had gone down from 195 to 140! I was so proud of myself! So here is my question I am seriously soooo afraid to gain a lot of weight again and still watch what I eat. I dont eat any red meat but I do eat lots of salads and fish and still drink a protein shake for dinner. Lately I’ve been feeling hungrier than ever like my body WANTS me to eat more :(
Is it safe to still watch what you eat to the extent that I am and excercise everyday? and what is the most I can gain without hurting my baby’s health?

As lomg as you are careful what you eat and dont do any crazy diets then you should be fine, and swimming is a great excercise for pregnant women.
Good luck and Congrats!

I think you should ask your ob/gyn…

Every mature adult know that you are NOT suppose to diet while pregnant, that does not mean it’s ok to pig out neither

You should be asking your ob/gyn, they know your body better than we do. Every woman’s different, some can exercise a little more, others can’t at all.
As for your diet, baby needs 1,500 calories a day; you need 2,000 on average.
So I’d just see what your doctor has to say, because it doesn’t sound like you’re getting how much you need.

It’s just baby-weight, hun, you can work it off again. Would you rather have an unhealthy premature baby, or a couple more months working off the weight? (:
    Congrats, and good luck <3

I would just eat when you are hungry but eat only healthy things.. make sure its a balanced diet.. including all nutrients. Its not a diet persay rather healthy lifestyle choice. ie.. stay away from the chips, pop, candy, fries, hamburgers, etc.. and I don’t see how anyone could say this was bad for the baby.
