I was visiting a day care today, and one of the teachers was giving all the 3 yr old class diet coke.

Glad my kid doesn’t go there!!!

  3. Katy B says:

no, it has cafiene, and it is bad for thier health,

  4. Joshua B says:

Its not that it is “unsafe” its just not healthy nor should be a substitute to fruit juice, milk, or water. Its appalling that a day care is doing such a thing.

Personally I do not believe any child should drink diet soda. One time isn’t going to kill them.

  6. bunneh_c says:

The stuff they put in soda is bad for you period. It doesn’t have to be diet. If the kids were drinking it and liking it, I don’t see a problem, unless the parents said “no soda.”

  7. shfacey says:

soda isn’t good for kids in the first place, but diet coke is worse. Diet coke has been proven to kill brain cells. It’s the aspertane. The day care provider shouldn’t be serving soda without the parents permission. They should only be serving juice or milk.

I think it’s fine but I don’t know it’s safe or not but better don’t let them drink

  9. J says:

they won’t die, but it’s still as unhealthy as it it for anyone else, especially because kids need nutrients from all their food/drink for normal development. it also instills bad habits in them or could lead to caffeine addiction

Are you kiddin me? hell no! point blank!

  11. Sarah says:

I have heard all the chemicals in diet sodas can be harmful to children, especially so very young. The chance that they could be harmed is probably very small, but to be safe, I’d stick to milk, juice, and water.

different parents feel differently about it. i would have an issue wtih the caffeine and the artificial sweeteners. most parents i know who do give their kids regular soft drinks water them down and use caffeine free. it should be an issue for the parents to take up with the worker.

  13. Sabrina says:

It won’t Actually hurt them, but it is not the best beverage for them. I imagine most of the parents would not approve.

  14. wicked_grl says:

(no,cos it has too much flour(i don’t know if this means what i wanted to say but any way that bubbly stuff-very BAD) and that destroys bones..not just kids even grown up bones but it more dangerous for kids…especially that young

  15. saved_by_grace says:

It is better than kool-aid which is loaded with sugar and not real healthy. I have seen them serve that at many day care centers. However, it is just my opinion but I believe that they should be served milk or 100 % fruit juice.

Aspertame, is probably a choice each parent would want to decide on otherwise it is harmless . most daycares are aware of allergies and concerns of each child. If diet is an issue I think the parent would let the provider know.

It wont hurt them, its probably just not healthy.

I would take my kid out that daycare so fast its not even funny. My mom didn’t allow me to drink soda (no matter what kind) until I was like thirteen-fourteen. Which I think is OD. My kid is about to be six and I only allow soda at fast food joints, partys, or if we go to visit someone and its all they have. I think they can regularly drink soda at around eight years old. Three is totally, incredibly and definitely too young to start.

it’s not healthy for a 3yr old to drink soda….or anyone for that matter.
