Meals that are rich in proteins is fine. You can't eat "protein only", unless it's an amino acid pill. And a pill, or course, isn't a meal.

Foods high in proteins also contain fats. Protein without fats is...well.. worthless. Proteins use fatty acids for energy. So one without the other isn't beneficial

Keep in mind: Your body uses carbs and fats for muscle movement. proteins are only used for cell growth (muscle, skin, hair, etc) but not movement.

Regardless of what name your call your diet: If your an athlete, a diet that is 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fats will do you well. If your not an athlete, but are active and want to be more lean, then a diet around a 40:30:30 area should be considered.

The avg. american diet is 20:60:20. The processed food industry can be blamed for this. (in my opinion).

Oh yea: Fruits and veggies ARE carbs.

My son 19 tried this diet for some months for his gym routine, and said he felt occassional depression and severe cravings. I suggested he end it, or at least add 10-20% carbs (he was only having protein such as chicken, tuna, jerky, and dressing it with salad)

Overall I think it would be much better to have a balance between fat, carbs and proteins, and not leaving out any of them altogether!

Don't eat greasy foods, salty foods, or too sweet of foods. You can be a healthy person and not realize what your snacking on. Too much sports drinks, contain salt and will make you absorb it if you drink too many. Too much grease, makes it hard for your body to release water. What kind of oil do you cook with? Olive oil, and Canola oil are good options. Vegetable oils have too many complex ingredients. And eating fiber (nuts, beans, wheaties...) can really help clean you out. And of course water is the best. They also sell good detoxes and fat flushes at health stores. Don't ever fast, it's unhealthy. Your body isn't getting all the nutrition it needs. You could do more harm then good. Ask a health professional or pharmacist if you have any questions about these. If your eating late at night, a fat flush, or fasting or detox is as easy as drinking water and not eating past 6pm. And you must stay up for up to an hour after eating to let food digest. If not, you will absorb the fats and your calorie intake will be higher than usual. That can lead to heartburns, and cramping. I can understand if you get hungry, but eat something healthy and small, like celery and peanut butter. Their great fibers, and peanut butter has healthy fat. Snacking should be healthy. I myself am a sucker for a handful of grapes and a banana. But celery and peanut butter are an absolute fav of mine. I hope this helps.

I know how you feel, just coming off a long weekend of eating garbage and feel the overwhelming need to purge my system too.

Stick with water, grapefruit and a high fiber (low sugar) cereal like FiberOne or AllBran for a few days. You'll flush your system and feel a million times better.

What I did was started off with a calorie change! I have Special K with 1 cup of skim milk for breakfast. For lunch I had a can of tuna and fruit; and dinner a Turkey sandwich on half calorie wheat bread and a salad. Use that diet and workout about an hour a day and you will shed them pounds!

I only count 4 meals there. You need to eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism moving. You say your trying to cut, but do you need to gain muscle too? To go for the look that you are trying, your body fat will be 8-9% at the most. You need to do cardio for the fat loss and weight training for the mucle growth. Great idea on the pre-work out shake.

It also wouldn't be a bad idea to have two work outs a day. Cardio in the morning and weight lifting late afternoon, early evening.

Love your veggies! Eat 1gram of protein for 1lb of fat. To boost your fat loss, try taking CLA. By incorporating this into your diet and exercise, studies have shown it can remove up to 7% body fat a year. Nice little bonus. The eggs are ok, but make sure you are eating more egg whites than yolks!

Also, if you want to get "Cut", you might want to look into a body builders "in season" diet. They are crazy, but the results are amazing. It consists of 3 protein shakes a day and three chicken and rice meals. I will add the web site below.

Lose the bread when you eat your Chicken sandwhiches. If you do eat bread, make sure it is 100% whole grain.

Fried Rice is Bad. Eat brown rice. That is so much better for you. I don't see any fruit in there. I would recommend it. I also do not see an intake of Omega 3's. Incorporate plain drained tuna. Do not make it tuna salad. It is high in protein and good for you. To make the snack even better, add cottage cheese to it.

Your meals are too much at once. You need to break them down. Here is an example:

Pre Cardio:

1 whey protein shake

Breakfast:

5 egg whites, 2 yolk
Yogurt or Cottage Cheese
100% whole grain bread

Snack (2-3 hours after breakfast):

1 can drained tuna
Apple or Orange

Lunch (eat your pastas here, but since you are trying to lose, don't eat too many):

Plain baked/boiled chicken breast
Broccoli (lots of veggies)
Pasta (not one soaked in sauce)

Pre-Lifting:
1 whey shake
Fruit

Post Lifting:
1 whey shake

Dinner:

Baked/Boiled chicken breast
veggies (and lots of them)

OR fish would be a great substitute for chicken

This is just an idea. I am on a gaining weight lifting program so I can compete in Womens figure competitions (mine is a little different)

Go to the body building website. It is very helpful. Look into an "in season diet" so you can "cut"

**the protein shake before cardio is key. The body will use the protein shake for fuel and not your muscle.

Eat every 2-3 hours. It is a full time job to stay on top of all this, but the outcome is worth it.

You may want to take mineral supplementation. Fasting is actually healthy and a lot of people do it regularly as a great way to detox, so the implication it wouldn't be shows you have been misinformed and given a bunch of fluff. Assuming you have enough fat stored to burn up as energy, you should know that the only thing stopping your body from using it is the fact it lacks the right nutrients or catalysts to get that process going. Minerals have no calories so you can actually fast while supplementing yourself and you would still be technically fasting.

High water consumption during fasting is essential. It takes 20 molecules of water to burn down 1 molecule of fat, that having been said, high water consumption may deplete you of minerals since you will be peeing a lot and again this is where minerals become important again.

Taking some vitamins such as vitamin C which is a known diuretic wouldn't be such a bad idea either. If you supplement yourself well enough chances are you will feel more energized and you will have plenty of energy to exercise and get your metabolism going so you'll burn all the fat, assuming the purpose of the fasting is weight loss.

Hope this helped

First of all, what you're doing is NOT unhealthy, and it was NOT wise of you to start on this "diet" thinking that it was harmful.

I don't know if my story would be of any help to you but I'll give it a shot :)

Let me take you about 3 years back to January 5th, 2007. This is the day that I found out that I had Acute Leukemia. I was 15 years old.

I've always been big into nutrition. Ever since I was about 8, I've felt that the human body is amazing and wanted to know everything it's capable of.

I remembered reading somewhere about cases of cancer patients unintentionally fasting because they were too weak to eat, and because of it, diminishing their trace of abnormal cancer cells. Patients had been put on intentional water fasts and almost all of them had been completely cured. The others saw a dramatic improvement but their cancer was too severe for the body to completely repair itself.

Anyways, almost immediately I started a fast. Water. Nothing else. No toothpaste, no nail bitings, NOTHING that could be ingested and disrupt the "detox" or repairing properties of a fast.

The first two days were full of tummy grumbles. I had IBS so I got nauseous from my stomach acids jumping around in there lol.

Before I go any further, my doctor highly disproved of water fasting for longer than 3 days. But I expected that. In my opinion, anyone working for the government is after money, not your safety or general well-being.

For the first 10 days, I did enemas each morning to help with the "detoxing" of my liver and shizzzz. I hate the insertion part, but everything following it is great lol.

After day 3, my tummy grumbles stopped completely.

Side Note: I drank like 200 oz. of water a day. It's NOT necessary. Again: Tons of water is NOT necessary. Get in your 6-8 cups and you're good. However, I do suggest a bottle of SmartWater every other day to replenish electrolytes (the biggest concern people have with long-term fasting.)

On days 10-18, I broke up in pimples. Cute, right? But it's a detox symptom. Your body rids itself of "toxins" through sweat, urine/fecal matter and through the skin in the form of acne.

Days 19-42 were easy. I got a colonic on day 34, 35, 38 and 39. That in itself caused a weight loss of 12 pounds.

On day 43, I broke my water fast with 4 oz. of organic diluted carrot juice.

If you're wondering about weight, I lost 56 pounds, putting me at 104 pounds, standing 5'5.

I have not gained any weight back because I've eating properly.

On to the medical reason for fasting... I told my Oncologist what I did and he was not happy. I told him that I'd felt more energized and alert and I was in virtually no pain as opposed to the constant aching I'd experienced before the fast.

He did my blood work. a few EKG's and your average "check-up" things like blood pressure at that visit. About a week later, I got a call asking me to come into his office because he wanted to talk to me.

Scared out of my mind that I'd been the "exception" to cures and fasting, and had actually FURTHERED my Leukemia, tried to remain calm.

I went into his office expecting to be granted 2 months to live. He greeted me and my father with a smile and---long story short---he explained that there are NO signs that I ever had Leukemia, asthma, type 2 diabetes OR chronic eczema. He compared me to a clean slate. I had virtually NO medical conditions.

On top of this MIRACLE, ever since those acne detox symptoms passed on day 20, I no longer suffer from severe acne. I don't even break out. EVER. I have not had ONE zit in 3 years.

I was clinically depressed and suicidal. I haven't felt even remotely close to that in forever!

Fasting saved my life and I hate that it gets a bad rep.

I hope I shined some light on how amazing our bodies are <3

God bless you

First of all, what you’re doing is NOT unhealthy, and it was NOT wise of you to start on this “diet” thinking that it was harmful.

I don’t know if my story would be of any help to you but I’ll give it a shot

Let me take you about 3 years back to January 5th, 2007. This is the day that I found out that I had Acute Leukemia. I was 15 years old.

I’ve always been big into nutrition. Ever since I was about 8, I’ve felt that the human body is amazing and wanted to know everything it’s capable of.

No toothpaste, no nail bitings, NOTHING that could be ingested and disrupt the “detox” or repairing properties of a fast.

For the first 10 days, I did enemas each morning to help with the “detoxing” of my liver and shizzzz. I hate the insertion part, but everything following it is great lol.

After day 3, my tummy grumbles stopped completely.

Side Note: I drank like 200 oz. of water a day. It’s NOT necessary. Again: Tons of water is NOT necessary. Get in your 6-8 cups and you’re good. However, I do suggest a bottle of SmartWater every other day to replenish electrolytes (the biggest concern people have with long-term fasting.)

On days 10-18, I broke up in pimples. Cute, right? But it’s a detox symptom. Your body rids itself of “toxins” through sweat, urine/fecal matter and through the skin in the form of acne.

Days 19-42 were easy. I got a colonic on day 34, 35, 38 and 39. That in itself caused a weight loss of 12 pounds.

On day 43, I broke my water fast with 4 oz. of organic diluted carrot juice.

If you’re wondering about weight, I lost 56 pounds, putting me at 104 pounds, standing 5’5.

I have not gained any weight back because I’ve eating properly.

On to the medical reason for fasting… I told my Oncologist what I did and he was not happy. I told him that I’d felt more energized and alert and I was in virtually no pain as opposed to the constant aching I’d experienced before the fast.

He did my blood work. a few EKG’s and your average “check-up” things like blood pressure at that visit. About a week later, I got a call asking me to come into his office because he wanted to talk to me.

Scared out of my mind that I’d been the “exception” to cures and fasting, and had actually FURTHERED my Leukemia, tried to remain calm.

I went into his office expecting to be granted 2 months to live. He greeted me and my father with a smile and—long story short—he explained that there are NO signs that I ever had Leukemia, asthma, type 2 diabetes OR chronic eczema. He compared me to a clean slate. I had virtually NO medical conditions.
